Avicenna Placement Test (APT)
Students are required to take the Avicenna Placement Test before they start their studies at our college. Dates of the APT are announced by the Department of Education and are available on the website.
The test includes a written and an oral part from the following subjects in English:
- Medical Foundation Program: Biology, Chemistry, English
- Technical Foundation Program: Mathematics, Physics, English
- Business Foundation Program: Mathematics, English
- International High School Program: English
- English Foundation Program: English
- In the German Medical Foundation Program students are tested in biology and chemistry in German.

All exam dates are set by the Department of Education according to the academic calendar.
- Science exams
To evaluate the educational progress and science knowledge during the academic year, students must take the following exams.- Weekly Progress Tests (WPT)
- WPTs are short evaluation tests organized every Monday morning between 8:00-9:45 a.m. It covers all science modules taught in the program during the week prior to WPT. (NOTE: In case Monday is a public holiday, WPT may be arranged on a different day.)
- WPTs cannot be retaken.
- Mid-Term exams and Final exams
- During the standard program (2 semesters) students are required to take 4 Mid-term exams and 2 Final exams, during the intensive program (1 semester) they must take 2 Mid-terms and 1 Final.
- Mid-term 1 covers the material taught from the beginning of the academic year until the date of the exam, the other Mid-terms cover the material taught during the period between two successive Mid-terms.
- The Final exam covers the whole material taught during the semester.
- Mid-term exams cannot be retaken, the Final exam can be repeated twice.
- Weekly Progress Tests (WPT)
- English exams
English education consists of 8 levels – each level takes 60 hours of in-class training.- Level tests
- Level tests in English are organised on the last session of each level which covers the entire material taught during 60 hours of education.
- Students will be promoted to a higher English level only after successful completion of the previous level which includes regular attendance of the classes and success in the exams.
- Level tests can be repeated to improve the result at the end of the academic year, on the specified day.
- Mid-level exam
- The Mid-level English test includes the material taught during the first 30 hours of education.
- Mid-level exam cannot be retaken.

- Participation in all the exams is compulsory for. In case of absence, the Department of Education must be notified in writing (e.g. medical certificate proving the reason of the absence). Unauthorized absence results in automatic failure which counts as zero in the calculation of the Grand Average Point (failure in any exam is considered as 1).
- Students are required to arrive in time for the exams and finish it within the allowed time frame. In case of late arrival the student will not be allowed to enter the examination room and will be automatically failed due to absence, getting a 0.
- Students will also be informed in advance on the means (e.g. calculator, laptop) allowed to the exam session. No other help is acceptable. Any use of unauthorized materials will result in an automatic failure.
Retake exams
- All Mid-Term exams are retakable on specified days.
- Only those who took the exam for the first time but failed or need a better grade can repeat the exam. Failure caused by absence does not permit a retake.
- Those who fail twice may apply for another possibility of re-take. Decisions are made by Avicenna case by case.
- Repeating an exam requires written registration at the Department of Education and payment of the exam fee prior to the actual date of the retake exam. The receipt of payment must be presented before the exam starts.
- Fees for any repeat or re-take exam apply. The fees depend on the number of retakes and if the student has tried to take the exam within 2 years after the termination of the student status.
- After repeating an exam, the improved result will be considered for the final marks, which appears in the educational record of the student and in the official transcript issued after the completion of the educational program.
- Any permitted retake exam can be completed maximum within 2 years following the academic year in which the student registered. After this period, student needs to register at AIC for any re-takes.
- In case you cannot come to the fixed date, you are required to inform the Student Aministration Office by email. If you fail to inform us on your absence, your retake exam application will be terminated and you have to re-apply for a new date later on.

Exemptions | |
Any requests for exemptions must be in writing, addressed to the Department of Education. Decisions will be made individually considering the student’s actual knowledge and previous degrees.
Full exemption: exemption in attending the classes and exams.
Partial exemption: exemption in attending classes but the student must take part in the examinations.

- Entrance exams to universities are organized every year in Budapest and abroad – students can choose the place of exam (Hungary or any other country).
- Those who apply to more universities usually take one test from the required subjects and English, and take the interviews separately to each university.
- The Admission Department will inform the students of the results after having received the offical response from the concerned university.
- The university application and admission procedures are arranged by the Admission Department. Relevant details will be posted on the website or sent to students via newsletter or email.
Students are allowed to apply to any university (in or outside Europe) and they have to meet the admission requirements of the concerned university. The Admission Department will assist in the application and admission process.
