Dentistry is one of the fields of medical studies, and it provides professional care for patients’ oral health. Dentists are responsible for improving and maintaining patients’ oral health by treating diseases of the oral cavity and prescribing suitable medicine for them.
Dentistry has several subfields, such as oral surgery, paediatric surgery and orthodontics.
How can you prepare for and get into dentistry schools?
There are various medical universities all through Europe which have an independent dentistry faculty (e.g. SOTE) or have a dentistry department (e.g. SZTE). Most of these institutions offer programs in English and they welcome international students.
The preparation for dental studies is quite similar to that of medical studies, since during the first two years medical doctors and soon-to-be dentists receive basically the same education at the universities.
