Writing a diary, which fully gives back the experiences we had during our one-week journey in AIC German Campus, Kastl, in such a peaceful and beautiful enviroment where every square meter is history, surely challenges one's writing skills. However, with the help of our students and colleagues, who put their thoughts together and the photos taken during our trip makes it possible to give a richer and wider view of it all.
Leaving Budapest in the morning knowing that a longer trip was ahead of us, inspired some students to entertain the passengers on the bus with singing and some stand up comedy. Finally, in the evening our vehicle rolled in to our long waited destination where suddenly every eye was fixed on the ancient, illuminated castle-monostary standing fast on the top of the hill waiting for us to inhabit its premises.
After arrival AIC President, Dr. Shahrokh MirzaHosseini welcomed us and gave intructions about the campus regulations. Soon after a warm dinner was served by a group of students from our partner school (Esély Iskola) who, by joining us, did an excellent job to make sure we received our nurishment each day.
On our second day in Germany students were given a free day when everyone got some time to discover the medieval atmosphere combined with modern facilities such as gym, cosy lounge room, etc. in Kastl. In addition, our colleauges tried to make our stay enjoyable by providing extra programs such as visiting one of the biggest cave in Bavaria region.
Beyond having fun, students were required to study hard during the week. Everyone received their timetables and had to learn how to adjust to new and at times challenging circumstances. Furthermore, how to be disiplined enough to manage their time to study after classes in order to be prepared for their mid-term exams.
In the evenings, Dr. Shahrokh Mirzahosseini held meetings for the students in a friendly environment where he shared some practical and useful thoughts related to well preparation for entrance exam interviews and for the life in University in general. Students were asked to give presentations in front of their classmates. For the last meeting teachers and staff along with the serving team were invited as well. President made the evening even more interesting by involving all participants with a little questionary game after listening to one of the student's presentation.
One day before our departure, students had the chance to decrease their stress by taking a walk in the beautiful landscape and breath in the crystal clear air, and to have some fun with bowling and visiting the nearby historical city of Amberg.
When the last day arrived, we were leaving behind Kastl with full of new experiences and things we had learned.
In summary, during this week we learned how to live together as a community, we had chance to have rich and meaningful conversations with each other, in addition we learned to be inventive, tolerant and we improved the ability to react well to unexpected situations.
The contrast of hearing the laughters of the students on the corridors and the peaceful silence, which ruled this ancient building during classes gave a divine atmosphere to the whole place. Also while walking through the empty corridors, one could look through the windows from far into the classrooms where the teachers and students were pushing forward to reach their mutual goals and to accomplish dreams. Meanwhile, the sound of the big watch tower's bell reminded us in each hour how fast time was passing and we had no time to waste in this precious life.
Finally here are some of our students and staff's thoughts regarding this week in Germany as closing of this diary:
“I think it is a good journey. Because the school is so beautiful and the town is quiet. It’s good for our study. Every day I go to class, and after class I go to the internet room. It’s very relaxing. After dinner I go to the gym. I love basketball. This gym is really good. So I like the kastl. I like this journey.”
“The study camp is an excellent possibility to study, do active sports and socialize with the students, provides ideal place for dormitory, classrooms, gym and many more.”
“We know each other better and enjoyed being with each other. It was the fist time that we visited church and we experienced not using computer a lot. Also we enjoy beautiful nature, we learned how to coordinate with each other and how to adopt time for study as well, we shared room with our classmates and following school’s rules and how to tolerate bad habits of each other.”
“This is a good trip. In Kastle, there is a huge beautiful castle. The air is very clean and I love it. In the morning, I always get up at 6 a.m to see the sunrise. In the middle of the week, there was a deep fog. I love it. However, there was some problem with the heating so it was cold at that night. The food was better than in Budapest. I studied all night every day. I like the clean and quiet air in the night. Moreover, I went to the town three times and bought some things. Furthermore, I climbed to the opposite hill of the castle. It’s so tiring but very fun. Conclusion, I love this trip and these meetings with classmates and teachers.”
