On Tuesday 21 December, a few days before Christmas, AIC pre-medical students and staff visited one of the Semmelweis Children's Hospitals.
The head nurse was very happy to see us and after giving us a warm welcome she asked one of her colleagues to show us around in several departments (such as immunology, neurology etc.)
As usual the hospital was very busy, due to the holidays they had merged some departments together. Therefore we have seen infants held in their mothers' arms as well as teenegers in one room.
Students inquiried about the children's health and wished them a merry Christmas with little chocolates and sweets, which brought much joy to the little ones.
It was touching to see that with such a little gesture we could draw smiles on these kids' faces and bring a little light into the hospital rooms where they face difficult challenges every day.
This visit helped the students to grow in compassion and give more meaning to their goal to reach, which is to become a physisian one day.
